Hodnet and Peplow moved to top spot in the division with a 23 point haul from their 38 run win over Shrewsbury 3rd XI.
An opening partnership of 29 between Billy France (15) and John Baker (16) got them off to a steady start.
But a steady loss of wickets meant Hodnet were all out for a low score of 112, aided by Nigel Wellings with 19 and Barry Managh with 23 not out.
Harold Banks (3-10) Steve Carless (3-25) and Roger Chapman (2-43) bowled well.
Shrewsbury reached 40 before losing a wicket and still looked likely winners at 52-2.
But Hodnet turned the corner with Neil Humphries maintaining his early-season form by taking 7-25 backed by some excellent fielding and Shrewsbury were skittled out for 74.
Humphries was ably assisted by Managh, who took 1-17 in 13 overs and Tunks, with 1-10 in eight. There were catches for Ryan Wilkinson, Dorian Richardson and Tunks.
France got a fine run out and Baker bagged a stumping. Tomorrow Hodnet and Peplow visit Oswestry 3X1 while the 2nd XI are at home to Prees.
