Three cyclists from Market Drayton are planning to pedal almost 1,000 miles across Great Britain to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Bryn Pass, his son Alex and family friend Steve Stott will set off on their journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats on Tuesday.
The three men have nicknamed themselves The Three Unwise Men as they look to complete to trip in less than 12 days.
Bryn said: “All three of us are really looking forward to it.
“We’ve been doing all our training locally and I’m sure we will all support each other along the way.
“We will be cycling through some of the most beautiful countryside and are planning to pass some well-known landmarks like Boscastle, Cheddar Gorge, Severn Bridge, the Welsh borders, Wenlock Edge, the Lakes, Gretna Green, Glencoe, Loch Ness and the Highlands to name but a few.
“A lot of people have been asking us why we are doing the route from south to north but you often have a south westerly wind that should help blow us up to Scotland and we are definitely going to need all the help we can get.”
The three men are looking to raise more than £1,000 from the trip and have already had a lot of support from the town.
Bryn said: “We’ve been wanting to do something for a while and Alex, who is 19, suggested we ride for Cancer Research.
“He has just completed his Duke of Edinburgh gold award so this is another fantastic achievement.
“Our aim is to raise as much money as we can but we would like to hit the £1,000 mark.
“We have a had some great support locally with the Coach and Horses holding a quiz for us and Country Cars are transporting us to the start free of charge.
“When you get kind offers like that it inspires you even more.”
Anyone wanting to sponsor the lads on their way can do so by leaving donations at Pete’s Chip shop on Shrewsbury Road.
Everything raised will go to Cancer Research UK.
