Big Bikeathon returns to Drayton

sd3616386jm08bikeathon.jpgThe Macmillan Big Bikeathon takes place on Sunday and one Market Drayton cyclist is encouraging everyone in the town to take part.

Rider Geoff Chevins has already competed in one sponsored cycle this summer raising £300 by taking part in the Dartmoor Classic cycle ride.

He will be one of the riders competing this Sunday in the annual bikeathon held to raise funds for the cancer charity.

And Geoff is encouraging as many people as possible to take part or support the event.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to the Macmillan fun ride this Sunday morning and hope the turn out is as good if not better than last time to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.

“This really is such a good cause and a great way to get out and do your bit to help. This event in particular is a family event with different distances to accommodate everyone.

“Local businessman Sean Malkin approached me last weekend to see how he could get involved and he has offered to donate £100 if I beat him around the course.

“I urge people to come along, show their support and help raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

The bikeathon is taking place at the Beacon Community Centre in Market Drayton from 11am on Sunday.

People taking part can choose whether to do a 12 or 21 mile ride. Entry is £10 per person and free for children under 11 who must be accompanied by an adult.

You can enter on the day or for more information contact Sue Harrison on 01630 655678.
