Youngest ever charity fundraiser

md-sd3490917jm15muller10k.jpgA little boy from Market Drayton became the youngest ever fundraiser for a national charity after taking part in the Muller 10k road race.

Two-year-old Jack Hornby took place in the under 5s run to raise money for School-Home-Support which aims to support vulnerable children.

His dad, Marc, works for the charity and also took part by running in the main race, with the pair raising a joint total of £1,027.

Marc said: “Jack took his training a lot more seriously than I did, he had me doing lots of laps in the garden.

“As a local resident I was really proud to run in the race and it’s definitely a personal achievement for me,

“It’s also important as I am raising money for the charity that I work for SHS, School-Home Support.

“As an early intervention charity we place highly trained practitioners in schools to support vulnerable children, young people and their families whatever they’re going through.

“It really is a great cause and I’m delighted to have raised over £1,000 for them.”

A spokesman for School-Home-Support, said: “Marc and hisson Jack both ran to raise money for SHS.

“Marc ran in the Muller 10k Road Race and his son Jack ran in the under 5s run making him the youngest fundraiser for SHS to date.

“Marc initially planned to raise £500 but has so far exceeded this target by raising £1,027 and hopes with last minute sponsors he will again smash this amount.

“We are very grateful for both their efforts.”
