Spooky tale of missing cat

cattt.jpgA ‘spooky’ curse has come back to haunt a Market Drayton family when their beloved family cat went missing.

Spooky, a ginger and black speckled cat, has disappeared from her jinxed owners, the Blackhams.

Deborah Blackham first contacted the Advertiser back in 2006 after her daughter Holly lost her comfort blanket.

The subsequent article led to its happy return three days later and the family even made a guest appearance on the Richard Hammond Show as a result.

Then, almost exactly a year later, the family cat Mulberry went missing. Now Spooky has disappeared and Deborah said her and Holly miss her “terribly.”

Deborah said: “A few years ago my daughter Holly lost her ‘Noo-noo’ comfort-blanket toy, and thanks to the help of the Advertiser one of the readers handed it in to us a few days later.

“A year later at exactly the same time of year, our cat Mulberry went missing and now, again at the same time of year, our other cat has gone missing. It’s bizzare. We can’t believe that history is repeating itself.”

Deborah said she and Holly were beginning believe they were cursed. “I hand-reared her from being a tiny orphaned kitten, when she was brought in to the surgery where I was training to be a vet nurse,” she said.

“It was Halloween, hence I named her Spooky. She is now about 13 years old. She is brown with gingery and black speckledy bits and she has certainly lived up to her name.

“She once escaped from her basket on route to the vets and was missing for two months. Then someone found her in Pell Wall, which was three miles from where we lived at the time. She must have had a premonition because I was actually in the process of moving to Pell Wall at the time she was found.

“Our family miss her terribly and we would love to have her back home as soon as possible.

“However, it may be that she has ‘adopted’ a new family and we would not dream of upsetting her or her new family by taking her away from them. We would just like to know that she is safe and well and being looked after.

“It is all rather ‘spooky’ that this ‘curse’ seems to have hit us again.”

If anyone has seen Spooky then can contact Deborah on 01630 656896 or 07779 221775.
