Star rating for Tudor House

The Tudor House Hotel and Restaurant, on Cheshire Street, was awarded the ranking following an inspection last month.

Manager Anne-Marie Brennan, who took over the running of the business in March 2009, said she was “extremely pleased” with the result and said more refurbishment is planned for the future.

Anne-Marie said: “My staff and I are really pleased with how well things have been going. When we took over we wanted to improve things and we have all worked really hard to get to where we are.

“It is lovely to be recognised by the English Tourist Board and shows we are on the right track.”

In its report the English Tourist Board praised the hotel for its food and cleanliness.

It stated: “The Tudor House achieves three stars. Hospitality was found to be well gauged in key areas, particularly on arrival and during dinner.

“Services were in line with expectations as this level. The breakfast was well cooked and housekeeping practices were good highlighting the thorough approach of the team.”

Anne-Marie said: “It is a big achievement for a hotel our size to achieve three stars and I think it is good for Market Drayton because we want to help bring people into the town.

“We try and give things back to other local businesses, we use Shepleys butchers for our meat products and Gilly’s puddings in addition to our own. We also source local vegetables.

“We are working very hard to keep improving and hopefully it will lead to a lot more people coming to the town.”
