Food bringing in the customers

pubtm.jpgA Market Drayton pub’s new landlord is confident good food and good beer will attract new customers.

Stuart Frazer took over the Kings Head Inn in Shrewsbury Road five months ago and has introduced a food menu for regulars.

Stuart, 48, has been a chef for 32 years and worked in hotels and pubs across Britain before taking on the Kings Head Inn where he is helped by his partner Julie Brown and three staff members.

He said: “I’ve been in the pub trade for quite a while and had my own pub in South Wales.

“I spoke to one of the area managers for Marston’s Brewery and showed an interest in the Kings Head Inn.

“I was given the opportunity to take it on but when I arrived in June, I thought the pub needed some work doing to it.

“But the brewery has been very helpful and they’ve done what they said they’d do for us.”

The Kings Head Inn is the first pub Stuart has run in Shropshire and he said he has been more than encouraged by the response from his customers.

“The people we have coming here are very nice, friendly people and they respect the premises,” he said.

“We’re having more customers in because we’re known for good food and real ales are going well.

“You could be in any town but the people we have coming here support us wholeheartedly and like what we’re doing.

“We want people to know there’s a place in Market Drayton where they can go and have good, home-cooked, fresh food and where the landlord and staff are always there for you.”

Julie said: “All this is new to me but I love it and I enjoy meeting new people.

“It’s nice to know that people are talking about the food we do here and we’ve got regulars who come in to eat which speaks for itself.”

The Kings Head Inn serves food from 12 noon until 2.30pm and 5.30pm until 8.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and from 12 noon until 3pm on Sunday.
