Help for first responders

cfrtm.jpgThe Community First Responders have a brand new defibrillator thanks to the kindness of two Market Drayton women.

Kate Seabridge and Linda Williams took part in the Seabridge Tractor Charity Road Run back in July and have now collected over £2,800 for their efforts.

The pair set off on a 30 mile trek, starting in Hales and moving onto Cheswardine and Chipnall before looping back to the start.

The friends organise the event every year at different north Shropshire locations and give all the proceeds to local causes.

This year it was decided the money would be split between Market Drayton’s Community First Responders and St Mary’s Church in Hales.

Kate said: “We have a bit of fun organising the event and it is our way of doing something for the community. This year we decided to use half the money to buy a defibrillator for the Community First Responders in Market Drayton.

“We chose them just because they are a good local cause and we knew they make use of the money.

“Over the four years we have always tried to support local causes. It’s nice to see where the money is going rather than giving it to one of the big national charities.

“It also means we can put something in the local paper and everyone can see what we have done with the money.”

The new defibrillator was handed over to the first responders on Wednesday.

Community First Responder, Tony Hobbs, said: “This new defibrillator will be just superb. We are enormously grateful to Mrs Williams for her donation, we use this vital piece of equipment when a patient’s heart has stopped to bring them back to life.

“We know for certain that the local population will benefit as a direct result of the selfless hard work which lies behind Mrs Williams kind donation.”

Tony added that the organisation’s funds are currently low and urged any potential sponsors to come forward.

He said: “Our team’s funds are very low and we are needing to provide kit and equipment for three new community first responders who have just completed their training.

“Should anyone be willing to offer their support please please email cfrmarketdrayton@aol.com.”
