A Market Drayton trader will be in the pink this month to help raise awareness and money for breast cancer.
Zoe Bloor of Hocus Pocus Designer Florists in Shropshire Street is marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month by holding a number of fundraising events, including a Pink Friday on October 23.
Customers will be able to enjoy a pink-themed tea party with a cake stall, raffle, rose and lily flowers and balloons for sale.
Zoe, 32 and from Hinstock, has decorated her shop window in advance of the event which other Shropshire Street traders will be joining in with.
She said: “It was an idea that I read about and having given it some thought, I decided to do something.
“People like our window displays, so I thought I’d blow up some balloons, have some nice, bright colours and have some fun.
“Throughout the month, we’ll be doing different things to raise money and I’ve already had some donations.
“We’re going to carry on the pink theme with the tea party and all the other businesses in Shropshire Street will be in it, so it’s going to be like a little street party.”
Zoe completed a sponsored diet in August in aid of children’s charity Breakaway, which organises weekend activity breaks for youngsters aged between four and 18 who have bowel or bladder difficulties.
She has raised £300 so far and is hoping for similar support from people in her fundraising for breast cancer.
“In the last few months, I’ve had family members who’ve been affected by breast cancer and no one is immune from it,” Zoe said. “This is making people aware that in some way, most people will be affected by it.”
