Warning signs to slow down traffic passing Moreton Say Primary School are to be installed by Shropshire Council following an article in the Advertiser.
Back in July the Advertiser reported the concerns of parent Adrian Fieldhouse who claimed it was “ridiculous” that cars are allowed to travel past the school at 60mph.
And following some extra pressure from Shropshire Radio it has now been confirmed that warning signs will be placed around the school in the next four to eight weeks.
A statement from Shropshire Council, said: “Shropshire Council can confirm warning signs, to hopefully slow down traffic along this stretch of road, will be put in place within the next couple of months.”
Adrian said: “I’m very glad that we have moved forward, it’s definitly a start. However I think it is still a bit sad that the signs are only advisory and are not legally binding.
“It is a shame that there is so much red tape that you have to go through today in order to get something done. Anyone with any common sense can see that when you’re driving past a school you should be legally obliged to drive slowly.
“I think this should be a national thing. Children, especially those at primary school, need looking after. I was told it would take nine months to make the speed limit legal. Why? It seems crazy.
“I am very glad though that following two articles in the Advertiser and after being on Shropshire Radio we have moved forward.”
