Niall Evans scored a crucial hat trick in FC Hodnet’s home game against Brown Clee last Saturday to make it three wins out of three in Shropshire County League Division One.
After a sloppy start, Hodnet found themselves a goal down from the penalty spot after Ramuite was ajudged to have handled in the area.
Hodnet equalised through Evans’ first goal of the game - a powerful finish in the top corner having been put through on goal.
Soon afterwards and with the game level, Hodnet lost the ball in midfield and were punished with the Brown Clee winger curling the ball into the top corner from distance.
This was a fair reflection on their first half performance as Hodnet went into the break a goal down.
After half time, Hodnet looked to keep the ball and allow themselves the time and space to attack the Brown Clee defence.
Early chances came from set-pieces and they soon achieved the breakthrough when Evans connected with a ball that bounced across the Clee box.
This gave Hodnet the impetus to attack in search of the winning goal, with Ross Ramuite and Scott Holiday going close.
It was Evans who got it as he muscled the centre-half off the ball, carried it 20 yards and slotted into the bottom corner.
The goal was a fantastic finish to cap a man-of-the-match performance from Evans and secure a third win in a row for FC Hodnet.
