Gary Anslow, voted Market Drayton Town’s most dependable player last season, is back from suspension at Glapwell tomorrow to boost their defence - but manager Simon Line’s selection problems are far from over.
For while Anslow’s fit, there are question marks against the fitness of goalkeeper Andy Pryce, Paul McMullen, Tom Rogers, Grant Goodhead and Shaun Humphreys.
All picked up knocks in Tuesday night’s memorable 1-0 win at Loughborough as Town bounced back superbly from Saturday’s 5-1 home defeat by Grantham Town.
The pleyers on Town’s lengthy injury list were being assessed at a regular training session last night.
“We’ll just have to see what the physio’s verdict is before we can draw up a game plan,” admitted manager Line .
Town are especially keen to put one over Glapwell for the home side have knocked them out of the FA Cup two years running.
“We’ve played them three times, including an away draw in the first game, and have been deperately close to beating them on each occasion,” said Line.
“We’d dearly love to get our revenge in our first league meeting.”
The injury doubts come at a time when Town desperately want to build on the performance at Loughborough, where Duncan Horler got the decisive goal, turning swiftly to hammer home.
Line added: “The lads were tremendous. They thoroughly deserved the three points and were light years away from Saturday’s disappointments.
“Loughborough had their moments but no-one could suggest we were not worthy winners.
“We deserved to score at least another couple of goals and dominated the game for long periods.”
The Tuesday turnaround came after a topsy-turvy show against Grantham on Saturday.
Martyn Davies put Town in front but the visitors hit back to take the points.
Market Drayton Town are running a bus to tomorrow’s match, leaving Greenfields at 11.45am. Tickets from Roy Blase at the Lord Hill.
