Hundreds of visitors took advantage of fine weather to enjoy the annual Wistanswick Fete recently.
The event, which has been held for more than 60 years, included the traditional dog and horse shows, garden and produce competition, a variety of stalls and a children’s tombola.
A new attraction for families this year was a giant inflatable slide, while youngsters also enjoyed themselves at the coconut shy and playing skittles.
More than £2,500 was raised towards the continued refurbishment of the Wistanswick Institute, with a new kitchen and improved snooker room planned over the coming months.
One of the organisers, Richard Wright, said: “I thought it was very successful and we had the one sunny day of the month as well.
“It was more successful than last year, despite the current economic climate.
“We’ve had comments from people who said it was the first time they’d come and were surprised how good it was.
“One person asked how such a small community could organise such a marvellous event and people want to get involved in it next year.”
