Childs Ercall was full of fun last Saturday as the village came together to mark the Jubilee Hall’s 25th anniversary.
Families made the most of the fine weather to enjoy face painting, bouncy castle, five-a-side football and a guess-the-weight-of-the-cake competition.
Dancers from the Telford Academy of Performing Arts and Childs Ercall HABIT keep fit members both gave demonstrations and visitors went round a variety of stalls.
Villagers also enjoyed a race evening and disco, featuring Shropshire rock and blues band, the Steel Monkees.
The fun day was organised by Childs Ercall’s Community Association, which runs the hall, and chairman Joyce Meredith said the day was a thank you to all the groups that use it.
“The day went very well and there were far more people there than we expected,” she said.
“Most people said they enjoyed it and the race night went really well. We put it on for the people who actually use the hall on a regular basis so that they could make some money for themselves.
“I don’t know whether something like this will happen next year but we could have done so much more, even though it was a lot of work.”
The fun day was supported by Childs Ercall Parish Council and Councillor Martin Brinkman said: “I’ve not had any bad comments at all and one or two people I’ve spoken to said it was very enjoyable.
“Events such as this are very important to a small village like ours because it bring people together of all ages.
“It was terrific and everyone involved worked very hard to make it a success.”
