Cricket action

Market Drayton IIs v Tibberton IIsMarket Drayton IIs hosted Tibberton IIs and slipped to a convincing defeat.

Their opening partnership seemed to be doing well and was frustrating the Drayton opening bowlers.

But Ben Turner was brought into the attack and that was the breakthrough that Drayton needed as a quick wicket then fell with a juggling catch by Bruce Harris in the slips.

With the bowling not up to scratch again as a number of wides and no-balls were conceded, Tibberton found it easy going and posted 212 for 6 wickets in their 45 overs.

The wickets fell to Darren Kent, Josh Learoyd, Ben Turner and Charles Harrison.

The Market Drayton batsmen had another mammoth task ahead of them and lost their opening batsmen in the second over. Wickets fell at a steady pace and it was once again Bruce Harris with a few big shots that got the total moving before he was bowled going for a pull shot.

Drayton finished on 100 all out in 25.5 overs with the biggest contribution to the runs coming from extras off Tibberton’s bowling attack.

Market Drayton IIs play Wellington tomorrow.
