Thousands of people took advantage of the fine bank holiday weather and visited Audlem for its ninth annual festival and carnival.
The four-day music, arts and entertainment event took place at a number of venues in the village and started last Friday with a “carnival-themed extravaganza” by children from Audlem St James Primary School.
Other highlights included a textile and embroidery exhibition, a comedy musical by the Audlem 5A’s drama group and a new bands’ showcase at the Lord Combermere pub.
Carnival day on Monday saw the crowning of this year’s Carnival Queen, 11-year-old Rhiannon Brookes from Audlem, as well as a fancy dress competition, maypole dancing and a display of classic cars and motor cycles.
Ian Haughey, who organised the music festival, said: “We had a good mix of music and managed to keep a lot of local talent coming in, as well as people who play with bands nationally.“Even the church bells joined in on Monday morning and wanted to do their bit, so it was a great weekend all round.”
